Pittsburgh St. Patrick's Day Parade

The 2nd largest St. Patrick's Day Parade in the world. Pittsburgh's very large and active Irish community comes together each year to host this annual event. The parade in Pittsburgh dates back to as early as 1869. The purpose of the parade is to celebrate the freedom to be Irish and to enjoy the holiday to its fullest. A number of fundraising parties are held throughout the week leading up to parade day to help underwrite the cost of the parade.

Lights, Camera, Bloom!

The Pennsylvania Convention Center once again is hosting the world's oldest and largest indoor flower show. In its 187th year, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Philadelphia Flower Show opens on February 28 and goes through March 8, 2015. In celebration of the silver screen, this year's theme is "Celebrate the Movies" with displays, special events and more. It is "Lights, Camera, Bloom!" when the world's great floral and garden designers take inspiration form the world's great cinema.

Celebrate Black History Month in Philadelphia

Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated February as Black History Month or National African American History Month to honor and celebrate the achievements by black Americans. It is also the time to recognize the role of African Americans in U.S. history.

Who are the Erie Otters?

Calling all ice hockey fans. The Erie Otters, a major junior ice hockey team, is one of only three American teams playing in the Ontario Hockey League. Based in Erie, Pennsylvania, the team takes its name from the North American river otter, a semiaquatic mammal commonly found by Lake Erie. The Erie Otters play home games at the newly renovated Erie Insurance Arena located in downtown Erie at 809 French Street. The arena is part of the Erie Civic Center Complex.

Pittsburgh Penguins Open their 2014-15 Season
