The Allegrippis Trails offer mountain bikers 33 miles of “buttery smooth single-track bliss.” Railroad enthusiasts will love the Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum, a look at the Pennsylvania Railroad’s repair shop, locomotive construction facility and test department that by 1945 was the world’s largest rail shop. Don’t miss the Horeshoe Curve engineering feat, and journey through the Aughwick Valley on the narrow-gauge East Broad Top Railroad. Stop to smell the roses at The Arboretum at Penn State in University Park, and then pop into the Penn State Berkey Creamery for a super-fresh scoop. Learn the rich stories of Pennsylvania’s citizen soldiers at the Boalsburg PA Military Museum that preserves the Commonwealth’s military history since 1747. It’s the hills of Bellefonte that enhance the charm of the town’s famed pre- and post-Civil War and Victorian architecture.
