B&B's in Pennsylvania

North Central Pennsylvania

In the Pennsylvania Wilds, you have the freedom to journey in so many different ways: Biking, hiking, boating, whitewater kayaking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and scenic car touring on one of the nation’s oldest highways, not to mention other renowned scenic roads. They’re  waiting to take you away from the crowds or the busy roads of elsewhere.

As you explore, you’ll quickly see why people call much of this area the Pennsylvania Wilds. The area is home to the largest elk herd in northeastern U.S. and a noted fishing and hunting destination. It’s even more about the abundant forests, such as the woodlands of the popular Black Moshannon State Park, Bucktail State Park, and the Allegheny National Forest.

Don't forget about the small cities located here, too. State College, home to the Pennsylvania State University, ranks among the most walkable places in the state and offers plenty of entertainment and dining opportunities. There's historic Bellefonte and its restored Victorian streetscape. These are just two of many towns and villages waiting for exploration--along with other landmarks such as the Woolrich Store & Outlet, the Zippo/Case Museum, Kinzua Bridge and Dam, Pine Creek Gorge and the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania.

When your day is over, the bed and breakfast hosts of north central PA are right down the country road. Have a nice dinner, enjoy a fireplace and—before you turn in for the night—don’t forget to see the night sky. The stars are brighter here. The surroundings are quiet. You can hear yourself think.

North central Pennsylvania is an affordable destination only two hours or less from Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Ithaca, Elmira, Erie, Harrisburg, Scranton, and so many other cities and towns.
