October is Pennsylvania Wine Month - 2014
This Fall, explore a number of wine trails and wineries in Southeast Pennsylvania. PA is home to over 200+ wineries and is the 5th largest producer of grapes in the U.S. Warmer than other areas above the Appalachian range, classic European varieties like chardonnay and Cabernet Franc can be grown in the Southeast without fear of injury from cold winter temperatures. You'll find hybrids like Traminette and Chambourcin, aromatic white varieties like Gewurztaminer, Riesling, and Gruner Veltliner, in addition to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Pinot Noir.
