Opening Day of Trout Fishing
Opening Day (statewide) for trout fishing in PA officially begins on April 12 at 8:00 am. Healthy populations of rainbow, brook and brown trout flourish in the various waters throughout the Pocono Mountains region. You could fish an entire month within the region and never fish the same water twice. Known as a top destination for coldwater fishing, you'll find an awe-inspiring setting that brings fishing enthusiasts back each year. If you haven't fished in the region, then you are missing out on some great fishing! Need new tackle -- then check out Hunter's Galley in Hamlin where you'll find a full line of rods, reels, live bait and tackle. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro, their qualified staff will help you choose the right equipment. They'll even recommend a few local fishing holes. Don't forget, a Pennsylvania fishing license is required for anyone 16 years old and up if not fishing at a designated pay lake. Learn more about the different types of permits and fees at the PA Fish and Boat Commission.
