First Day Hikes
Is your New Year's resolution to exercise more often? If so, get started by participating in a "First Day Hike" at one of 20 Pennsylvania State Parks. At Kings Gap Environmental Education Center the hike is an easy two miles on fairly level trails in the Pine Plantation from 1:30pm - 3:00 pm. Learn about the park's trail system and more hiking opportunities throughout the coming year. Please register in advance by clicking here or emailing email@example.com or calling 717-486-3799.
Approximately 20 State Parks throughout Pennsylvania are offering First Day Hikes. The purpose of the organized hikes is to promote a healthy lifestyle throughout the year and the year-round recreation available at Pennsylvania's 119 State Parks. Other State Parks offering a First Day Hike include: Marsh Creek State Park, Downingtown (South East); Nesopeck State Park, Drums (North East); Sinnemahoning State Park, Austin (North Central); Presque Isle State Park, Erie (North West); and Ohiopyle State Park, Ohiopyle (South West).
Make it an overnight with a stay at a nearby Bed and Breakfast.
