Experience the American Revolution in Philadelphia

Bring the revolution to life at Philadelphia’s newest museum, the Museum of the American Revolution (M*AR). The extensive collection of colonial-era artwork, objects, printed works, and priceless artifacts is more than a century in the making and displayed to explore the ideas, events, and legacies of America’s revolutionary foundation. Take a guided tour through these history-filled halls, attend an illustrated lecture, or spend an evening out with History After Hours.

The History After Hours series returns this year with extended evening hours from 5:00-8:00PM for reduced admission. Tickets are just $10 for adults and featured themed programs, happy hour food and drink specials, and full access to the museum as well as timed screenings of Washington’s War Tent. There are games for the kids or put your mettle to the test with trivia questions. On February 20th, the special themed program is Love Letters; click here for more information and tickets.

The limited run special exhibition, called Among His Troops: Washington’s War Tent in a Newly Discovered Watercolor, offers an invaluable glimpse into the Revolutionary War with a 235-year-old, seven-foot panoramic painting of General Washington’s headquarters tent. From a period before the invention of photography, the rare eyewitness painting by Pierre L’Enfant (the mastermind behind the city planning of Washington, D.C.) shows hundreds of military tents across the rolling hills of the Hudson Valley and the marquee tent that Washington himself inhabited during our fight for independence. Among His Troops is displayed from Saturday, January 13 – Monday, February 19th and guided tours are offered every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings at 10:00AM.

Visit the museum’s website for a complete map, admissions and tickets, directions, and more and plan your trip with a stay at a bed and breakfast today!
