Gettysburg - 150 years later
In 2013, the nation will remember and commemorate the Battle of Gettysburg - sometimes called the "high water mark" of the Civil War. Education and preparation for the 150th anniversary of that battle have already begun. Gettysburg will host several reenactments during 2013 and lots of educational presentations. Many of the towns near Gettysburg will also host reenactments as they were also involved as troops moved toward Gettysburg.
Many B&Bs are located in old homes that were involved in some way with the events of that time. Perhaps the B&B was a stop on the "Underground Railroad" or maybe a Civil War hospital. These old homes have stood the test of time and lived through the battles. You can now enjoy the hospitality of innkeepers who know some of the history of the area and will be delighted to share it with you. Plan your trip for a history lesson, some relaxing moments, and a great breakfast before you start your Gettysburg adventure.
