Through Fire and Water in Sharon, PA
View (as well as touch, taste, and smell) an incredible multisensory performance this summer at the spectacular WaterFire Festival in downtown Sharon, PA. Held on three different dates throughout the summer, the day-long artistic event features artisan vendors, live entertainment by professional musicians and performers, delicious food, and the breathtaking performance involving over fifty custom, metal braziers that are anchored in the Shenango River and lit at dusk.
Started in Providence, Ohio, WaterFire was the first of its kind. A thrilling festival that combines the conflicting elements of fire and water, WaterFire brought together a diverse crowd numbering in the thousands. Its unique concept and attractive performances quickly spread nationally to Columbus and Kansas City, and internationally to Rome and Singapore. The WaterFire Festival had set the world aflame. Now, you can experience this popular one-of-a-kind show for yourself in Western Pennsylvania; Sharon, PA is one of the few venues in the world to host this compelling art installation.
The day-long festival, no matter its location, is always centered around a waterway. It makes up half of the display by elegantly reflecting the light of the fire, with all its dynamic motion and energy, into something that is both energizing and calming. WaterFire also burns cedar and pine wood in the braziers to provide onlookers with a multisensory experience unlike any other. Before the fires start at dusk, interactive exhibits, arts and crafts, musical groups, food, and more all provide for an exciting celebration that begins at 10AM. By the time the sun sets, the suspense and energy of the daytime festivities will force everyone’s full attention to the Shenango River. Once lit, the braziers will burn until 11PM.
