What's dropping where on New Year's Eve in South Central PA
Pennsylvania is the only state that has the most objects dropped on New Year's Eve. Over 48 towns ring in the New Year by dropping a unique item. The majority of the towns can be found within a 25 mile radius of Harrisburg - Pennsylvania' state capital. In the capital city, a strawberry is dropped from the Hilton Hotel in downtown Harrisburg. Nearby in Hershey, the town raises a Hershey Kiss, in Lancaster a red rose is raised and in York a white rose is dropped. There are plenty of small towns that drop a unique item such as neighboring Dillsburg that drops a pickle or Duncannon that drops a sled or Shippensburg where an anchor is dropped. The next county over, you'll find the city of Lebanon has a Bologna Drop and in Carlisle a button will be raised. For a complete listing of activities and times, click here.
