PA Shakespeare Festival

Each summer, the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival celebrates the greatest writer ever known with a series of six or more plays and special one-night-only performances. Performed in two theaters in The Labuda Center for the Performing Arts at DeSales University, the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival has brought hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world and is listed as a Major Festival in the book Shakespeare Festivals Around the World by Marcus D. Gregio. This year, the performances are Ragtime, Twelfth Night, Shakespeare in Love, King Richard II, All’s Well That Ends Well, Alice in Wonderland, and Shakespeare for Kids.

In early June, get an exclusive sneak peak at the 2018 season with special performances by the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival’s artists and actors by reserving your tickets for the Gala Luminosity. Held at the University Center of DeSales University on June 2nd, the unforgettable evening will be full of cocktails, conversation, a chef-curated dinner, and auction.

Ragtime, performed June 13-July 1, is lauded by Time Magazine as “a triumph for the stage.” Following three interconnected, distinctly American tales, Ragtime is a musical that examines our desperate struggle to reach our personal American dreams as well as the celebration of the spirit that gives us the strength to do so.

Twelfth Night opens Saturday, June 23, and is the first performance of the 2018 season written by William Shakespeare. The comedic feast of lovers and fools follows the tale of Viola and her twin brother as they are shipwrecked in the magical land of Illyria. The catch? Each believes the other drowned. Sticky situations and a most unusual and hilarious love triangle ensue as the play enfolds until true love finally finds its way. Buy tickets for Savoring Shakespeare, a specialty dinner that is themed to the play with behind-the-scenes insights on Sunday June 24 for the Twelfth Night show. Savoring Shakespeare is also available for Ragtime, Shakespeare in Love and King Richard II, and All’s Well That Ends Well.

Every weekend, you can also bask in the shady comfort of the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival’s tented terrace with a Twilight on the Terrace fine dining experience. The three-course meals are uniquely themed to the production each Friday and Saturday night at 6:00PM.
